Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 828 AM EDT Thu Jul 14 2016 Valid 00Z Fri Jul 15 2016 - 00Z Fri Jul 22 2016 As per the National Hurricane center track forecast, the remnants of Tropical Storm Celia will be passing between 300 and 400 miles north of the islands on Sunday and Monday contributing to an increased likelihood of showers as precipitable water values increase over the period. A retrograding upper weather pattern over the central to north central Pacific will allow heights to build across the eastern to northeastern Pacific with the development of a large 594+ dm upper high north of Hawaii. The surface high associated with this anticyclone begins as a 1032 mb center near 45N 135W that drifts westward to near 45N 150W and builds to near 1040 mb by Sunday as the remnants of tropical storm Celia should pass north of the islands. However, the circulation about Celia should disrupt the trade wind pattern until it passes on Tuesday and Wednesday and high pressure builds to the north and an increase in the trade wind flow appears more likely.
