Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 810 AM EDT Fri Jul 15 2016 Valid 00Z Sat Jul 16 2016 - 00Z Sat Jul 23 2016 The state will see trade winds supported by strong high pressure covering much of the eastern half of the Pacific with an interruption from the remnant circulation of Tropical Storm Celia early next week and then what remains of Hurricane Darby toward the end of next week. Expect moderate trades to continue into the first part of the weekend while precipitable water values decline briefly. Then trades will be interrupted for at least a portion of the Sunday-Tuesday period as the remnant of T.S. Celia tracks to the north of the islands. One or more bands of enhanced moisture extending to the south of the feature will likely cross the state and bring the potential for heavier rainfall. Trades should resume by Wednesday-Thursday along with a lighter trend for showers. Current guidance shows better than average clustering toward the surface reflection of Hurricane Darby reaching just west of 150W longitude near 17-19N latitude by day 7 Friday. At this pace moisture/rainfall should begin increasing near the Big Island next Fri. Rausch
