Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 800 AM EDT Sat Jul 16 2016 Valid 00Z Sun Jul 17 2016 - 00Z Sun Jul 24 2016 Latest models/ensembles agree well for most aspects of the forecast through the next seven days. Winds will trend lighter into early next week as the remnant circulation from Celia tracks approximately 150-250 miles north of the islands in the Sunday night to Tuesday time frame. To the south/southeast of this feature, from Sunday into Wednesday guidance expects one or more bands of enhanced deep moisture to cross the islands. The added moisture may promote locally heavier rainfall with activity possibly having some sea breeze focus given the interruption of trades especially around Monday. Expect trades to resume Wednesday-Thursday with briefly drier conditions Thursday. Then what remains of Hurricane Darby is still on track to begin affecting weather over the region by Friday-Saturday. Current consensus has the surface low tracking to the south of the Big Island, which would lead to that part of the state being most likely to see a period of stronger winds and heavy rainfall. Rausch
