Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 819 AM EDT Wed Jul 20 2016 Valid 00Z Thu Jul 21 2016 - 00Z Thu Jul 28 2016 Satellite imagery shows the remnants of Celia still with some convection to the northwest of the state. Deeper moisture pluming up into the system as per blended precipitable water loops suggests fuel lingers for some island showers today, especially over the western islands. Guidance agrees that trades rebound over the next few days as a shortwave ridge settles over Hawaii to set a pattern with limited windward showers. This occurs as another tropical system approaches from the east. The National Hurricane Center forecast tracks Tropical Storm Darby just to the northeast of the islands this weekend. Suspect deeper moisture pooling over the islands underneath the system should fuel another period with enhanced shower activity that lingers and shifts gradually west early-mid next week. The Central Pacific Huuricane Center takes over forecast responsibility for Darby later today. Schichtel
