Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 804 AM EDT Wed Aug 03 2016 Valid 00Z Thu Aug 04 2016 - 00Z Thu Aug 11 2016 Through Friday expect moderate to brisk trades as supported by strong eastern Pacific high pressure. Guidance continues to suggest that a pocket of enhanced moisture, originally from tropical cyclone Frank, should cross the islands late Wednesday-Thursday. Thus generally windward focused rainfall may be locally heavier in this time frame. T.S. Howard is forecast to weaken to post-tropical/remnant low status as it tracks toward the state during the next few days. Reflecting a gradual southward trend in the guidance over the past 24 hours, the 0900 UTC National Hurricane Center advisory now indicates a track into the northwestern islands by 0600 UTC Monday. This track increases the potential for significant rainfall over the central/northwestern islands from the weekend into the beginning of next week. Any drier trend after the departure of Howard may be brief as T.S. Ivette should come into the picture by around next Wednesday-Thursday. Based on the current range of guidance for Ivette's track toward the end of the period there will be the threat for another episode of heavy rainfall and possibly enhanced winds. Rausch
