Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 816 AM EDT Thu Aug 04 2016 Valid 00Z Fri Aug 05 2016 - 00Z Fri Aug 12 2016 Through about Friday night strong eastern Pacific high pressure will promote moderate to brisk trades. A pocket of enhanced deep moisture originally associated with Frank is currently crossing the state, with its departure leading to a brief period of lesser shower activity Friday and perhaps into Saturday. Howard has weakened to a post-tropical cyclone and is now nearing 140W. The remnants of Howard will continue heading toward the state and by mid-late weekend/early next week will bring the potential for heavy rainfall, most likely over the central and northwestern islands. Expect a return of moderate trades and a briefly drier trend after Howard's remnants pass by. Then around Thursday what remains of T.S. Ivette should approach the state with the potential for another episode of enhanced rainfall. There is currently a fair amount of spread for the existence/track of any lingering surface reflection by next Thursday so at this time confidence in specific effects is low. Rausch
