Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 822 AM EDT Thu Sep 15 2016 Valid 00Z Fri Sep 16 2016 - 00Z Fri Sep 23 2016 Wet pattern will continue for a couple more days as the weakness aloft slowly moves southwestward away from the region. By late Saturday and Sunday, drier air should work into the region and surface high pressure will drift westward along 34N, promoting a more typical trade pattern. For next week, the ensembles show a building upper high to the NW of the area near 30N/170E that is forecast to slide westward through Thursday which may allow another weak upper trough to move toward or over Hawai'i. In addition, the remnants of what is currently Tropical Storm Orlene may approach the islands by next Thursday. The recent 00Z/06Z GFS were on the more aggressive side of the multi-center ensemble envelope as far as increasing moisture over the eastern islands next Thursday. Please consult the latest information from the National Hurricane Center on Orlene. Fracasso
