Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 816 AM EDT Thu Nov 03 2016 Valid 00Z Fri Nov 04 2016 - 00Z Fri Nov 11 2016 The latest models and ensembles reasonably agree for much of the next week overall and show a main Pacific storm track to the north of the islands as systems dig to the lee of a west-central Pacific ridge into an eastern Pacific mean trough position at mid-latitudes. Pattern amplitude should support several trailing/weakening front and shearline passages into the islands today, over the weekend, and again early next week. Post-frontal high pressure cells will periodically notch up trades. Moisture and precipitation should remain fairly limited in this flow and focus over favored windward terrain, but some deeper inflow could develop in about a week with flow amplification. Schichtel
