Guidance agrees that an energetic main storm track across the
Paicifc mid-latitudes is amplified enough to force a lead cold
front toward the islands that gradually weakens and stalls just to
the north of the state over the next few days. Disrupted island
trades should rebound Monday as post-frontal high pressure builds
to the north of the state. Additional flow amplification could
then provide better support for a more robust trailing frontal and
enhanced showers push into Hawaii next Friday/Saturday. Weakened
trades Wednesday/Thursday in advance of the front should ramp up
again into next weekend.
