Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 728 AM EST Wed Dec 07 2016 Valid 00Z Thu Dec 08 2016 - 00Z Thu Dec 15 2016 A mid to upper trough aligned just west of 170w will gradually approach the Hawaiian Islands through the weekend. This amplified trough will begin to draw back or allow return flow to encompass most of the state... as precipitable water values hover around 1 inch. This setup will increase the chances for showers and locally heavy rain through the weekend. As the upper trough axis moves past the islands early to mid next week... a frontal zone will move through the western islands and the entire plume of moisture subsides some. Overall the guidance shows this scenario which overall remains unsettled through the upcoming weekend. Musher
