Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 824 AM EDT Fri Mar 30 2018 Valid 00Z Sat Mar 31 2018 - 00Z Sat Apr 07 2018 ...A heavy rain threat to develop into next week... Model and ensemble guidance remains reasonably well clustered over the next week, bolstering forecast confidence in transition to an increasingly active weather pattern. A favored composite indicates that a closed upper-level low now to the northwest of the state will slowly eject northward over the next few days across the North Pacific, only to be replaced by another system into next midweek. A trailing surface front will gradually approach the islands from the northwest this weekend and linger well into next week as an extensive and anomalous axis of upwards of 2" precipitatble water values works across the western islands. This could repeatedly fuel potentially heavy rainfall that will accompany the well defined and slow moving front that should prove slow to work across the islands next week. Schichtel
