Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 812 AM EDT Mon Jun 04 2018 Valid 00Z Tue Jun 05 2018 - 00Z Tue Jun 12 2018 Hawaii will be solidly in an easterly flow regime through the next week. Upper ridging will generally dominate the weather pattern across the Central Pacific, but models show good consensus that a weakness in the ridge should traverse from east to west across Hawaii late this week into the weekend. At the surface, high pressure will remain anchored north of Hawaii, with 10-20 kt easterly flow at the surface through the next week. The air mass will be moderately moist through the next week (Pwats averaging 1.0-1.4 in.), with the deepest tropical moisture remaining mostly south of the state. As the upper-level weakness crosses the state Fri-Sun, a brief surge of modestly deeper moisture (Pwats > 1.50 in.) may traverse the state. This would bring a slight and rather brief increase in otherwise typical windward/leeward shower activity before drier air once again spreads across the state early next week. Ryan
