Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 822 AM EDT Mon Oct 15 2018 Valid 00Z Tue Oct 16 2018 - 00Z Tue Oct 23 2018 A low pressure system well to the northeast of the state will allow for some clouds/moisture across the state today and on Tuesday, but the deeper moisture will sweep away from the state as the low pressure system moves eastward across the Central Pacific by mid-week. After this, Hawaii will be located in a relative weakness between two subtropical ridges, with drier air working into the state along with weak trade winds. Through the week, a series of amplifying upper level shortwaves move through the Pacific to the north of the state, but not likely to dig far enough south to have any significant impacts on the Island chain. Models and ensembles show general agreement that upper level ridging should strengthen over Hawaii by the weekend, with a typical trade wind pattern expected. Santorelli
