Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 727 AM EST Tue Nov 13 2018 Valid 00Z Wed Nov 14 2018 - 00Z Wed Nov 21 2018 As a cold front pulls away from the region, winds will continue to subside as they veer easterly by Wednesday as high pressure builds back into the region. A typical trade pattern will prevail for much of the week with light windward showers. Meanwhile, the 06Z GEFS mean, 00Z ECMWF ensemble mean, and 00Z ECMWF show a closed upper low breaking off from a trough to the north--with the 06Z GFS also showing troughing but not closing off. Regardless, this will bring the tail end of a front to the north of the area and will result in higher precipitable water values moving across the islands; thus, an increase in widespread and light to locally modest rain can be expected through the weekend. By the beginning of next week, upper heights once again build back over the region and, consequently, drier conditions. Reinhart
