A series of strong subtropical surface highs tracking to the north
of the state will support strong trade winds and mostly dry
conditions for Hawaii through the end of the week, although
showers will favor windward terrain with some rainfall
occasionally straying over into leeward locations.  Guidance shows
precipitable water staying below climatological values through the
period, which should keep most activity in the lighter half of the
spectrum.  An upper-level trough is forecast to approach the state
by next Monday.  Major global models agree that the front should
cross the main islands from west to east on Tuesday.  This will
lead to a significant weakening of the trades from Sunday into
Monday, with enhanced shower activities and winds shifting to more
northerly directions on Tuesday.
