Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 722 AM EST Sat Dec 15 2018 Valid 00Z Sun Dec 16 2018 - 00Z Sun Dec 23 2018 Breezy trades will subside over the next day as a surface high pressure slides eastward to the north and then northeast of the region to relax the pressure gradient. Mainly light windward/mauka showers are expected. Models and ensembles continue to show a cold front pushing through the state on Tuesday but with only scattered showers as the best dynamics stay north of the region. However, winds will increase behind the front out of the north over 20kts with gusts over 30kts late Tuesday into Wednesday. Winds will continue to veer to the northeast and then east-northeast post-FROPA on Thursday and return to more typical levels by Friday into next Saturday as another surface high pressure moves eastward along 30N.
