Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 707 AM EST Sun Dec 30 2018 Valid 00Z Mon Dec 31 2018 - 00Z Mon Jan 07 2019 A decaying frontal boundary across Hawaii could still bring a few showers to the state through Sun night before the boundary washes out and the deep moisture shifts south and west of the state. Models and ensembles continue to show strong consensus that an upper-level ridge axis will build across the state from Mon onward through the rest of the week. The ridge will bring a resumption of breezy trades in the 20-25 kt range and an abundant supply of dry air, with PWs falling well below 1 inch, resulting in only very isolated/light windward showers. A couple frontal boundaries originating in a more active flow regime across the North Pacific will attempt to move south toward Hawaii, one Thu-Fri and perhaps another next weekend, but models show these washing out north of Hawaii with little or no sensible weather impacts on the state.
