Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 730 AM EST Thu Jan 03 2019 Valid 00Z Fri Jan 04 2019 - 00Z Fri Jan 11 2019 Models and ensembles this morning indicate that the dry and breezy trade wind pattern lately across Hawaii will give way to more showery conditions starting this weekend and into next week. An upper-level subtropical ridge coupled with a strong surface high pressure system will provide relatively dry weather with strong easterly winds through Friday. By the weekend, moisture near the trailing end of a dissipating cold front will increase the chance of showers across the islands. Thereafter, models are indicating a southward trend for cold fronts coming from the mid-latitudes to reach Hawaii during next week. The first cold front could become stationary not too far from Hawaii next Tuesday followed by a strong cold front possibly moving across the islands on Thursday. These fronts will keep a good chance of showers across Hawaii beginning Tuesday of next week. Kong
