Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 755 AM EDT Mon Apr 15 2019 Valid 00Z Tue Apr 16 2019 - 00Z Tue Apr 23 2019 An elongated mid/upper-level weakness will gradually move eastward away from Hawaii over the next several days, with little to no impacts on Hawaii in terms of sensible weather. By the weekend, models/ensembles show broad consensus that upper ridging should expand across Hawaii from the west central Pacific. An active frontal zone across the north central Pacific is expected to remain well north of Hawaii, keeping the state in a trade wind pattern. Trades should weaken slightly by mid-week as a surface high north of the state moves away, but moderate trades should return by late in the week as another surface high builds north of the state. The pattern will promote a relatively dry air mass across Hawaii, with relatively low PWs (near or below 1 inch), keeping shower activity fairly isolated and primarily confined to windward locations.
