A modest surge in precipitable water values associated with a
surface trough will move westward across the islands through
Wednesday. Windward/mauka showers are expected but should
generally be on the light side with locally heavier amounts.
Models and ensembles agree that upper ridging will strengthen atop
the region starting midweek (500mb heights about +2.5 sigma) which
will increase trades as surface high pressure strengthens to the
northwest of Kauai and moves eastward Tue-Fri. Rainfall will be on
the light side on favored windward/mauka areas due to a rather
stable atmosphere.
