A modest surge in precipitable water values (around 1.50 inches)
associated with a surface trough will linger over the region
through Thursday. Windward/mauka showers are expected but should
generally be on the light side but with locally heavier amounts.
Models and ensembles agree that upper ridging will strengthen atop
the region starting midweek (500mb heights about +2.5 sigma) which
will increase trades as surface high pressure strengthens to the
northwest of Kauai and moves eastward. Rainfall will be on the
light side (generally favoring windward/mauka areas) due to a
rather stable atmosphere.
