Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 757 AM EDT Tue May 21 2019 Valid 00Z Wed May 22 2019 - 00Z Wed May 29 2019 Nearly all model guidance continues to advertise upper-level ridging holding strong across Hawaii through the week, with some signs of perhaps slight weakening this weekend. This is a result of broad troughing and reinforcing shortwave energy to the north driving a couple of cold fronts southward, but still well to the north of, the state. This would bring light and variable east to southeasterly winds and diurnally driven isolated windward showers through the week. Normal trades should resume this weekend and into early next week as the frontal boundaries to the north wash out and surface high pressure rebuilds north of the state. Santorelli
