An anomalously deep upper-level low/trough and surface cold front
just northwest of the state is supporting a lingering risk of
heavy convective rains for the western islands where a flash flood
watch remains in effect. Activity has been fueled by instability
and a deep moisture feed with precipitable water values of 2-2.5"
that seems well cooroborated by blend precipitable water loops.
This system and threat is expected to lose influence over the
islands into Friday. A favored guidance composite then shows a
drying trend with return to seasonal trades and mainly windward
terrain showers under a lingering weakness aloft.
