Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 823 AM EDT Thu Jul 18 2019 Valid 00Z Fri Jul 19 2019 - 00Z Fri Jul 26 2019 The guidance shows relatively good agreement in a strong upper high to the northeast of Hawai'i weakening over the next week, steering an upper low north of the archipelago Thursday/today into Friday before settling west-southwest through the Papahanaumokuakea National Marine Monument into mid next week. A compromise of the guidance with the mid- to upper-low settling through the northwestern archipelago should sufficiently deal with the detail issues noted. The upper low appears to guide the remains/moisture formerly associated with Tropical Depression 04E to the south of the islands late Thursday/today into Friday, which briefly increases moisture and shower activity. Moisture availability/shower activity should remain within typical trade wind regime norms this weekend into Monday. Another low-level disturbance in the trade wind flow, within the inflow band of a system well southwest of Mexico/south of California currently, approaches the Island of Hawai'i next Tuesday and Wednesday, which should enhance showers and trades mid next week.
