Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 757 AM EDT Sun Jul 28 2019 Valid 00Z Mon Jul 29 2019 - 00Z Mon Aug 05 2019 Moderate to breezy trade winds are expected to continue through the middle of next week for Hawaii with clouds and showers generally favoring windward and mountain locations. As per the latest track from the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Erick is forecast to pass just south of the Big Island next Thursday-Friday. This will result in increased trade winds and precipitation chances across much of the state. Confidence remains low this far out on exact rainfall amounts, but there is potential for some heavier rain especially for parts of the Big Island and Maui. Trades should weaken a bit after Erick passes by next weekend, with showery activity again favoring the windward regions. Please refer to NHC for the latest information on Tropical Storm Erick.
