Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 830 AM EDT Sun Aug 04 2019 Valid 00Z Mon Aug 05 2019 - 00Z Mon Aug 12 2019 ...Erick, Flossie and Gil... The Central Pacific Hurricane Center is monitoring three tropical systems. Tropical Depression Erick is now well southwest of the Hawaiian Islands and will continue to weaken then dissipate into Monday. Erick no longer offers a direct threat to the islands. Tropical Storm Flossie is approaching the Big Island and is forecast to clip/pass just north of the islands Monday/Tuesday while weakening. Flossie proximity will bring some enhanced weather impacts to the state. This will include potential for heavy rains near the circulation as well as into favored island terrain as increased south to southwest flow underneath Flossie pumps deepened moisture inland. Tropical Depression Gil has also formed well upstream over the tropical Pacific, but is not forecast to reach Hawaii. Erick, Gil and especially Flossie also offer a maritime high wind/seas hazard and warnings have been issued. Expect a return to moderate trades in the wake of Erick and Flossie as high pressure settles to the northeast of the state, with heaviest shower potential over windward terrain for the remainder of the week.
