Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 827 AM EDT Mon Oct 28 2019 Valid 00Z Tue Oct 29 2019 - 00Z Tue Nov 05 2019 Weak troughing in the near term will trend towards lower heights for most of this week with a frontal boundary stationed to the northwest of the islands the next few days. Expect weakening trade winds as a result, and an increase in windward clouds and showers. On Tuesday-Wednesday, a brief surge of higher precipitable water values is likely as an upper level disturbance (500mb height anomalies of -2 and -2.5 sigma) passes through aloft. This brings the chance for heavier/enhanced shower and rain activity to mainly the Big Island. Conditions should dry as heights should begin to rise again by the end of the work week/beginning of the weekend, though another trough looks to push towards the region by Sunday-Monday carrying a surface cold front towards the northwest Islands.
