Surface high pressure well north of Hawaii will keep brisk trades
(20 to 30 knots) and mainly windward showers in place through the
weekend. By early next week, models continue to show the
devlopment of an upper level low well northwest of the state,
eventually lifting to the northeast into the North Pacific by mid
to late next week. This should ease trade winds next week as they
veer towards the east-southeast while a cold front dives southward
towards Hawaii, likely stalling by mid-week somewhere near or just
to the northwest of Kauai. Expect increased rain chances for the
westernmost islands, with the potential for heavy rainfall. A more
typical trade wind pattern should return by the end of next week
as high pressure once again builds north of the region.
