Models and ensembles show excellent agreement on an upper level
low driving a cold front south and eastward towards Hawaii and
stalling it somewhere near or just to the northwest of Kauai by
mid-week. This will bring increased rain chances and possibly
locally heavy rainfall to the westernmost islands through much of
this week. Elsewhere, showers should mainly favor windward and
mountain locations. Expect trade winds to weaken and shift towards
the south-southeast ahead of the cold front, returning to a more
typical and breezy regime by late in the week and through next
weekend as the front dissipates and high pressure builds north of
the state.
