Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 312 AM EST Fri Dec 27 2019 Valid 00Z Sat Dec 28 2019 - 00Z Sat Jan 04 2020 A dissipating cold front and its associated moisture field will continue to support scattered showers across mainly the Big Island into Saturday. A more typical and breezy trade wind pattern should return this weekend as high pressure builds north and east of Hawaii with isolated showers possible along favored windward facing terrain. Models continue to show general agreement that a shortwave should amplify northwest of Hawaii during the middle of next week sending a cold front towards the western islands. An increase in showery activity can be expected, though models show differing opinions on the intensity of the moisture plume and associated rainfall amounts. The 00z ECMWF seems to be the most amplified with this troughing while the GFS and ensemble means are weaker and more progressive. Santorelli
