Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 802 AM EDT Tue Jun 24 2014 Valid 00Z Wed Jun 25 2014 - 00Z Wed Jul 02 2014 Weakening of high pressure to the north of the state late this week should result in trades becoming lighter mid-late period relative to the moderate strength expected through Thu. As a result of this weaker trend in trade winds, sea breeze boundaries may have an increased influence on shower activity this weekend and early next week. In most cases rainfall should be on the light side. Modest local enhancement is possible at the start of the forecast Tue-Wed with the passage of a narrow band of higher precipitable water values and then this weekend/early next week as a weakness aloft develops over the area, to the south of a passing mid-latitude Pacific trough. Models and ensembles agree with the overall forecast scenario while showing typical smaller scale detail differences aloft. Rausch
