Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 827 AM EDT Wed Aug 13 2014 Valid 00Z Thu Aug 14 2014 - 00Z Thu Aug 21 2014 Hurricane Julio was located well north of the islands near 30.0N 158.4W at 09 UTC and is still packing quite a punch as it tracks away from the state. Trailing moisture will exit the western islands today and disrupted trades will rebound to moderate levels over the next few days as high pressure settles to the north and northeast of the islands in the wake of Julio. This favors a pattern of limited windward showers through the weekend. Meanwhile, guidance remains varied but satellite imagery indicated that the ITCZ remains active upstream of Hawaii with the National Hurricane Center and the Central Pacific Hurricane Center monitoring two tropical disturbances whose associated moisture may effect the islands by early next week with approach.
