Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 807 AM EDT Wed Sep 03 2014 Valid 00Z Thu Sep 04 2014 - 00Z Thu Sep 11 2014 Guidance continues to show light to moderate trades into the middle of next week. Winds should be lightest during the latter half of this week before eastern Pacific high pressure extends its influence farther southwestward. The gradient over the islands may weaken again somewhat around next Wed. During periods of lighter winds expect higher potential for shower activity to be influenced by sea breeze boundaries. Precipitable water values should be variable over the course of the period. GFS/ECMWF and their ensemble runs differ in the specifics but overall suggest that PWATS should average from a little below climatology near the Big Island to above normal over the northwestern islands.
