Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 814 AM EDT Tue Oct 14 2014 Valid 00Z Wed Oct 15 2014 - 00Z Wed Oct 22 2014 ...Tropical Storm Ana to affect Hawai'i starting this weekend... Note... The Central Pacific Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Ana. Please consult their advisories for the latest information. Through the rest of this week, an upper low to the SE of the 50th state will continue to move westward. To the north, a surface high will weaken and slide eastward, allowing the trades to lessen for the balance of the week. By Saturday evening, Ana will likely be located about 100 miles to the SE of the Big Island and headed northwestward. A surge in tropical moisture is likely over at least the southeastern islands this weekend that will subside slowly, depending on how quickly Ana exits the region (which may not be too quickly). Several inches of rain appear likely near the track of the system and on upslope regions with an increasingly easterly flow. By next week, the ensembles indicate upper ridging to creep closer to the NW islands from the west, which will complicate the track of Ana by then. Fracasso
