Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 726 AM EST Fri Dec 12 2014 Valid 00Z Sat Dec 13 2014 - 00Z Sat Dec 20 2014 Latest models and ensembles still reasonably agree that a weakening front now stalled over the islands should allow pooled moisture fuel some lingering showers over the state today under a mean ridge aloft. A second front should stall/weaken over the state from the weekend as a north-central Pacific to Alaska storm passes well north of the state, but supporting height falls aloft remain limited. High pressure building north of the state in the wake of this storm favors increased island trades underneath from the weekend into mid/late next week, but rainfall should be confined to favored windward terrain. A composite model and ensemble forecast approach offers excellent continuity. Schichtel
