Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 729 AM EST Thu Jan 15 2015 Valid 00Z Fri Jan 16 2015 - 00Z Fri Jan 23 2015 A well defined storm track remains focused to the north of the state over the mid-latitudes of the Pacific overtop a persistent and shielding mid-upper level ridge centered just to the south of the Hawaiian Islands. Trades are disrupted in this pattern over much of the next week. Model and ensemble forecast solution spread and uncertainty seems remarkably low over the next week and show a lead impulse aloft supported frontal system approach toward the western islands this Friday/Saturday with another approach in about a week at the tail end of this forecast period. Both systems may allow for a period of increased lead moisture into the state along with some organized showers in an otherwise more limited rainfall pattern overall. Schichtel
