Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 658 AM EST Wed Jan 21 2015 Valid 00Z Thu Jan 22 2015 - 00Z Thu Jan 29 2015 Faster GFS trends with the front crossing the islands Fri-Sat yield improved model agreement for the forecast period. During the next couple days winds should range between southeasterly and southwesterly, with the state between the southwestern periphery of eastern Pacific high pressure and flow ahead of the approaching front. At times winds may be sufficiently light to allow for sea breeze shower activity. The Fri-Sat front should bring a period of more organized showers but still with mostly light-moderate amounts given precipitable water values likely not exceeding 1-1.25 inches or so. Expect trailing high pressure to support northeasterly trades through at least Tue. Another front approaching the region on Wed may disrupt trades at that time. Windward focused rainfall should remain fairly light early next week with PWATS likely dropping below an inch for a period of time especially to the northwest of the Big Island. Rausch
