Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 715 AM EST Wed Feb 04 2015 Valid 00Z Thu Feb 05 2015 - 00Z Thu Feb 12 2015 ...An active weather pattern for the Hawaiian Islands... A series of progressive embedded systems continue to work through fast westerlies dominating the mid-lower latitudes of the Pacific. Models and ensembles still show quite similar larger scale flow evolutions. A guidance composite is favored to mitigate lingering smaller scale detail and system timing variances, but overall the periodically wet pattern offers above normal predictability. Impulses tracking aloft to the north of the state support multi-banded passages of moisture and rainfall focusing surface fronts across the Hawaiian Islands over the next couple of days. Expect a relatively dry period Friday through the weekend between significant systems. Another organized system passage aloft and deep low to the north of the state forces another moisture and rainfall focusing surface front underneath across the islands next Monday/Tuesday leading into another dry period by next midweek when deeper moisture should be more efficently swept away.
