The 7-day forecast for Hawai'i appears on track---the 28/00Z
ECENS/NAEFS solutions handling the mass fields and overall flow
pattern across the Pacific. Considering the distinct split-flow
pattern emerging across the eastern Pacific and North American
continent---the means are in very good agreement with the
latitude/longitude positioning of the developing longwave trough
along 170W by 5/12Z (day 7). 

By Friday (1/12Z), the migratory surface ridge is on track to move
northeastward---and the trade winds to easing across the forecast
area.
