Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 733 AM EDT Thu Jul 09 2015 Valid 00Z Fri Jul 10 2015 - 00Z Fri Jul 17 2015 The 00Z-06z global models and ensembles agree on the track of Ela going north of the islands the next few days and then moving west away from the islands over the weekend. The plume of enhanced precipitable water associated with the wave containing Ela moves across the islands with the threat of locally heavy showers over the weekend. From the early to middle portion of next week, the models/ensembles show high pressure sfc and aloft building north of the islands, producing a transition to moderate to brisk trades. While precipitable water drop after Ela's departure, they remain above normal through the middle of next week, so enhanced showers with heavy downpours are expected on the windward shores of the islands, particularly the big island. Please refer to the Central Pacific Hurricane Center (CPHC) for the most recent information and forecasts concerning Ela. Petersen
