Hurricane Ignacio was located 239 nm NE of Hilo near 22.7N 152.3W
at 06 UTC and was packing sustained winds of 75 knots with gusts
to 90 knots. Maximum significant wave height was 30 feet. Ignacio
is forecast to continue on a track well north of the islands over
the next 3-4 days, but please consult the Central Pacific
Hurricane Center (CPHC) for the most recent weather information.
In this scenario...a favored composite of models and ensembles
would suggest a potentially wet pattern this week underneath
Ignacio for the Hawaiian islands with the chance for moisture
pooled locally heavier downpours under troughing aloft.

Meanwhile...powerful Hurricane Jimena was located 957 nm NE of
Hilo near 16.3N 138.7W at 06 UTC and was packing sustained winds
of 115 knots with gusts to 140 knots. Maximum significant wave
height was 42 feet. Jimena is forecast to track to the NE of the
islands by by late this week and beyond, but please consult the
National Hurricane Center and then the Central Pacific Hurricane
Center (CPHC) for updated weather information. This Jimena
scenario along with the late week exit of Ignacio may allow island
moisture and rainfall threat decrease from the weekend into early
next week.
