Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 729 AM EST Thu Mar 10 2016 Valid 00Z Fri Mar 11 2016 - 00Z Fri Mar 18 2016 A relatively dry post-frontal airmass has spread across the Hawaiian Islands as high pressure bridges to the north of the state. Models and ensembles reasonably agree that rainfall will be limited through the weekend and be primarily confined to favored windward terrain in enhanced trade flow. Forecast spread and uncertainty is below normal in this weather pattern. The approach of an amplified mid-upper level trough energies from the northwest early next week should act to relax trade support over the islands and allow moisture to gradually rebound. Main system passage aloft along/north of the state Tuesday/Wednesday should also force a well defined surface cold front with organized showers through the islands, followed by a return of moderate post-frontal trade flow pattern.
