Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 829 AM EDT Fri Apr 01 2016 Valid 00Z Sat Apr 02 2016 - 00Z Sat Apr 09 2016 Model guidance is in excellent agreement on depicting a weakening front slowly edging southward into the main islands during the weekend, with a pool of moisture moving from east to west across the Big Island on Sunday under freshening easterly winds. The subtropical high will then pass well north of the islands as winds veer more to the southeast on Monday with lingering showers on the windward side of the islands. Thereafter, models continue to show excellent agreement that the next cold front will move across the main islands from Tuesday into Wednesday. The ECMWF members continue to show a deeper mid-upper level trough associated with the front and a stronger surface low as compared with the faster and more open wave solution from the GFS members. But this difference does not appear to a significant impact the timing of the front. Kong
