Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 829 AM EDT Mon Apr 18 2016 Valid 00Z Tue Apr 19 2016 - 00Z Tue Apr 26 2016 Showers today remain fueled by pooled moisture with frontal passage. Radar shows widespread activity and blended precipitable water loops depict a band in excess of 1.5" sinking slowly southeastward from the central to southern islands. The 3km NAMnest and WRF show some locally heavy downpour potential. Longer range global models and ensembles are in reasonably agreement and a favored composite solution indicates that current frontal passage is ushering in a rainfall pattern favoring windward terrain over the next week with return of moderate mean trades as high pressure bridges to the north of the state, but moisture will not remain as deep.
