Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 715 AM EDT Wed Apr 20 2016 Valid 00Z Thu Apr 21 2016 - 00Z Thu Apr 28 2016 The 20/00Z deterministic ECMWF/GFS were very reasonable and sound pieces of forecast guidance --- through day 7. Both solidify a surface high --- and maintain its position along and/or near 32N 146.5W at 27/12Z. What differences there are in the supporting 20/00Z ECENS/GEFS ensemble members --- lie downstream of Hawai'i --- along 130W (near the Mainland). That said, Subtropical Ridge expansion appears to be the prevailing theme during the latter half of the medium range period (after 26/00Z) --- with nearly all the central Pacific beneath a broad Subtropical Ridge axis extending west to east along 30N. Current local forecast scenario and sensible weather pattern looks to be in fine shape. Vojtesak
