Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion...Corrected NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 852 AM EDT Wed Jun 01 2016 Valid 00Z Thu Jun 02 2016 - 00Z Thu Jun 09 2016 Models show good overall agreement with near average spread within the ensembles through the week, next weekend, and into early next week. From Wednesday into Friday, an upper low/TUTT near 25-30N and 140W lifts out early and decouples from an easterly wave which migrates nearly to the Big Island Thursday night. Thereafter, the dominant synoptic feature will be the amplifying long wave trough between 140W and 150W from Friday night onward, with its progression and slow passage allowing for a frontal zone/shear line to migrate through Hawai'i late Friday into Saturday, reinforcing surface troughing to the east of the state. The net result is fairly weak trades through Sunday before high pressure north of the islands strengthens thereafter, which should strengthen the east to east-northeast surface flow. As precipitable water values pool in the archipelago, rain chances should increase from late Saturday onward, peaking from late Monday through Tuesday. Roth
