Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 720 AM EDT Sun Jun 05 2016 Valid 00Z Mon Jun 06 2016 - 00Z Mon Jun 13 2016 The 5/00Z ECMWF and GFS and their ensemble means are very agreeable with the overall flow pattern across the Pacific Basin. A deep-layered ridge builds west-to-east along 30N next week---bringing a fresh Tradewind flow pattern to the Islands. Of note---the 5/00Z GFS/ECMWF deterministic guidance both generate a closed 500mb vorticity center in the day 3-4 period invof 35N 140W. It becomes entrained in the Subtropical easterlies and migrates westward towards the Islands between days 5 and 7. May not be a significant sensible weather feature---but worth mentioning since the feature (if it develops as 'progged') may become a localized region of turbulent flow for aviation concerns heading southwest from the Mainland.
