Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 729 AM EDT Tue Jun 21 2016 Valid 00Z Wed Jun 22 2016 - 00Z Wed Jun 29 2016 The current Hawai'i forecast seems to be on track based on the most recent model guidance. The expansive surface ridge covering the majority of the eastern Pacific will weaken through time. And over the weekend (day4-5), the 21/00Z deterministic ECMWF/GFS reasonable depict the sequence of events leading up to this scenario. A broad trough forms in the Gulf of Alaska and incorporates/merges with a cutoff low currently invof 30N 140W. Once the eastern Pacific mid-level longwave trough between 140W-150W migrates into the North American (around day 7), the expansive surface ridge and moderate-to-strong tradewind circulation returns to the Subtropics (~20N latitude).
