Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 830 AM EDT Mon Aug 01 2016 Valid 00Z Tue Aug 02 2016 - 00Z Tue Aug 09 2016 The latest models and ensembles still reasonably agree that high pressure built NNE of the state will support a moderate to locally brisk island trade and rainfall pattern over much of the next week. Latest radar and guidance support lingering showers mainly over the western islands as enhanced by local moisture pooling with current mid-upper level trough passage. The trade wind and a more limited rainfall pattern Tue-Fri may be temporarily disrupted to some degree over the weekend as the National Hurricane Center offers a forecast track for a weakening tropical system Howard to the northeast of the Big Island by Friday. The remnants of Howard would be close enough over the weekend to suggest that associated moisture may be in place to enhance island showers. Schichtel
