Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 830 AM EDT Sun Aug 28 2016 Valid 00Z Mon Aug 29 2016 - 00Z Mon Sep 05 2016 ...Tropical Storm Madeline threatens the Hawaiian Islands by midweek... The latest models and ensembles still reasonably agree that high pressure built north of the islands remains supportive of moderate to locally brisk trades into midweek in a general windward terrain focusing rainfall pattern. Excessive rainfall potential increases significantly by midweek with return of deep tropical moisture and increasing winds with the forecast approach toward the Big Island of Tropical Storm Madeline. Please refer to the latest products from the Central Pacific Hurricane Center and WFO Honolulu for updated information on Madeline. The effects from Madeline should subside by Friday, but current Hurricane Lester may track toward the islands with uncertain intensity by next weekend close on the heels of Madeline. Hurricane Lester is now being followed by the NHC. Schichtel
